How to set it up

Every youth sports team needs the same sheet: the game dates down the page, snacks and drinks next to each, and a family's name in each spot. Soccer, baseball, softball, cheer, it's identical. The sheet should show the whole season so families pick the games they'll be at, and it should tell everyone the rules once, at the top: how many kids, nut-free, nothing that needs a knife. Then it should remind people the day before.

The mistake is spreading it across a group text, a paper list at the first practice and the coach's memory. One tip: add a third row for the game after a tournament or the last game of the season, for a bigger treat, and let two families share it. It gives you a reason to post the sheet early and it fills first.

Questions people ask

What snacks work best?
Prepackaged, nut-free, not chocolate in summer. Granola bars, fruit snacks, pretzels, orange slices, juice boxes or water. Put the list on the page so nobody has to ask.
How early should we post the season?
As soon as the schedule is out. Families grab the games they know they'll make and the sheet fills in a week. Post it late and you'll be chasing people all season.
Is an online sheet worth it for one team?
If you've ever had a game with no snacks, yes. Families sign up in a minute from the group chat with no account, get a reminder the day before, and can hand a game to someone else with one click. You can build the page free and see for yourself.

Why not a paper sheet or a Google Form?

A paper sheet lives in one place and fills up with the first people who walk past it. A Google Form takes forty signups for a row that needed two, and you find out in the spreadsheet. An online sign-up sheet closes each row when it's covered, sends a reminder the day before, and gives every person a link to cancel so the spot reopens. See the side-by-side with Google Forms.
