JustSignup vs Google Forms for volunteer signups
Google Forms is free, everyone has it, and for a one-question survey it is the right tool. A volunteer signup is a different job: spots run out, people change their minds, and someone has to send reminders. Forms does none of that on its own.
| Google Forms | JustSignup | |
|---|---|---|
| Spot limits | None. A shift can be picked 40 times | Set a number per shift or item; it closes when full |
| Waitlist | None | Automatic when a spot fills; promoted when one opens |
| Reminders | None (you email people yourself) | One email the day before, per person |
| Change or cancel | Edit-response link, if you turned it on; you find out by reading the sheet | One manage link in every confirmation; the spot reopens |
| Several things at once | Checkbox grid, with no counts | Check off shifts, jobs and items; one submission |
| What's still open | You work it out in the spreadsheet | Filled versus needed on every row; share only the gaps |
| Volunteer accounts | Sometimes required by the school's or church's Google settings | None. Name and email |
| Price | Free | First page free, no ads; Pro $9/mo or $79/yr for everything |
Use a form when you're asking a question: who's coming to the picnic, what size shirt, any allergies. Use a signup page when you're filling spots: shifts with a limit, a rotation, things to bring. If you've ever had to email everyone because a shift was picked six times, that's the line.
