How to set it up

A snack schedule is the simplest sheet there is and still goes wrong every season. One row per game, one family on snacks and one on drinks, with a note about how many kids and what not to bring. Post the whole season at once so families can pick the game they'll definitely be at. Reminders the day before are what actually get the orange slices to the field.

The mistake is a rotating list with names assigned in order. Half the families can't make their assigned game and the swaps happen at 9 p.m. the night before. Let them claim instead. One tip: write 'nut-free, enough for 14 kids, nothing that melts' in the page description once, instead of answering that question fourteen times.

Questions people ask

How much should each family bring?
Enough for every kid on the roster plus two. Say the number on the page. Prepackaged is easier for the parent and safer for allergies.
What if someone forgets?
Reminders the day before fix most of it. For the rest, keep a case of water and a box of granola bars in the team parent's trunk. It happens once a season no matter what you do.
Can one family take several games?
Yes. They check off every game they want in one go and get one confirmation email listing all of them, with a link to drop one if plans change.

Why not a paper sheet or a Google Form?

A paper sheet lives in one place and fills up with the first people who walk past it. A Google Form takes forty signups for a row that needed two, and you find out in the spreadsheet. An online sign-up sheet closes each row when it's covered, sends a reminder the day before, and gives every person a link to cancel so the spot reopens. See the side-by-side with Google Forms.
