How to set it up

A funeral meal is planned in a day and served in two, usually by a hospitality team that does it a few times a year. The sheet needs to go out fast and fill fast, so it has to be simple: a list of dishes with counts (three main dishes, four sides, four desserts, rolls, drinks), two setup people, three servers, and two people to clean up. Everyone who opens the link sees what's still needed and takes one thing.

Send the link to the whole congregation, not just the hospitality team. The people who can't attend the service are often glad to bring a casserole, and they'll only know if they see the list. Put the drop-off time and the kitchen door on the page itself, and a note that disposable dishes are a kindness because nobody will be returning pans.

Questions people ask

How fast can we get this out?
Start from this sheet, change the date and the drop-off time, and share the link. About five minutes. Each sign-up gets a confirmation with the details and a reminder the day before.
Can we reuse it for the next one?
Yes. Copy the page, change the date, and it's ready. The hospitality team's rows stay the same from one funeral to the next.
What if the family has dietary needs?
Put it in the page description ("the family keeps kosher" or "please avoid nuts") so it's the first thing people read before they pick a dish.

Why not a paper sheet or a Google Form?

A paper sheet lives in one place and fills up with the first people who walk past it. A Google Form takes forty signups for a row that needed two, and you find out in the spreadsheet. An online sign-up sheet closes each row when it's covered, sends a reminder the day before, and gives every person a link to cancel so the spot reopens. See the side-by-side with Google Forms.
