How to set it up

Hockey schedules are the hardest to keep in your head: Saturday one week, Sunday the next, a 7 a.m. ice time, then a tournament two hours away. A snack schedule with the date and time on every row is the fix. One family brings the after-game snack to the lobby, where the kids eat with their skates off, and the team keeps water bottles on the bench. Post every game once the ice schedule is out.

Put the rules in the description: how many players, nut-free, warm is welcome for the early games, and water for the bench. One tip: for a 7 a.m. game, ask the snack family to bring something for the parents too, like coffee. It is the most appreciated row on the sheet all season.

Questions people ask

The second half of the schedule comes out in December. How do we add it?
Extend the page by a month and it adds the next weekends with the same rows, then fix the dates and times to match the ice schedule. Or Copy the week forward one game at a time. Nothing is rebuilt, and the families already signed up keep their games.
Ice times change. Does the sheet update?
Change the date or time on the row and everyone on it gets an updated confirmation. The reminder the day before uses the new time.
Can I print it for the locker room door?
Yes. Every page has a printable flyer with the QR code and a printable list of who has each game. Tape it up at the first practice and the parents who skip the group chat still see it.

Why not a paper sheet or a Google Form?

A paper sheet lives in one place and fills up with the first people who walk past it. A Google Form takes forty signups for a row that needed two, and you find out in the spreadsheet. An online sign-up sheet closes each row when it's covered, sends a reminder the day before, and gives every person a link to cancel so the spot reopens. See the side-by-side with Google Forms.
