We ask every new customer the same question: what were you trying to fix? The answers repeat, and they are more useful than anything we could write about ourselves. Here is what people told us, grouped by the problem. No names, because they are customers, not advertisements.
"Every event on one page"
This is the one we hear most, and it came first from PTAs. A volunteer coordinator was sending a new sign-up sheet for every event: the fall festival, the book fair, the holiday party. Each one was a new link, seen first by the same dozen parents. What they wanted was one link for the whole year, with each event keeping its own spots.
That is how a JustSignup page works. One page holds as many events as you run. Parents open it once, sign up for everything they can do, and get one reminder per day instead of a pile. A PTA president later asked if she could keep next term's events on the page without showing them yet, so we added a way to hide an event until it is ready.
"Parents and volunteers shouldn't need an account"
Nobody signs up to volunteer in order to create a password. A school technology administrator told us her teachers were getting stuck at a login screen on the tool they used before, and parents were too. On JustSignup the person signing up types a name and an email. That is all. They get a confirmation, a reminder, and a link to change or cancel.
"One account for the whole school, and one bill"
The same administrator wanted something no sign-up tool would sell her at a sensible price: one account that pays for every teacher, with each teacher's pages their own. She also needed students kept out, even though students share the school's email domain.
So we built school accounts. The school pays once. Staff are added from the school's Google Workspace each night, and people who leave are removed. The office builds the parent-teacher conference page once and every teacher copies it. How school accounts work.
"No ads on the page"
A sign-up page is something you send to parents, congregants and donors with your name on it. Several groups came to us because the page they were sending carried someone else's advertising. JustSignup has no ads on any plan, including the free one.
"It has to fit how we actually run things"
A meal-delivery program told us their regular drivers should never have to sign up each week; that makes a standing commitment look optional. They needed regulars assigned once, an easy way to say "I can't make this one", and a single page to print each morning. We built those three things.
A museum wanted volunteers to feel no pressure: clear confirmations, a reminder, and the page embedded on their own site. A youth nonprofit wanted a parent copied on every email. A Christmas project wanted volunteers to tap a day on a calendar and see that day's shifts, and wanted it to work well on a phone.
None of those are large features. They are the difference between a tool you put up with and one that fits.
"A person answered"
The comment we get most after someone has been with us a while is about support. When you write in, the founder reads it, and most fixes ship the same day. Two of the changes above went live within hours of the email that asked for them.
If one of these is your problem
Start a page free at justsignup.io/new; it takes a few minutes and your volunteers never need an account. If you are buying for a whole school, see school accounts. And if what you need isn't here yet, tell us. That is how everything on this page got built.
